Toolbox
Inspired design
This was the first project that occurred to me as something to make on a CNC machine. I had been familiar with the concept of computer aided machining (CAM), and combined with a working knowledge of wood joinery, the “toolbox” demonstrated the perfect project to explore this concept.
MORTISE and Tenon Joinery
The primary means of joining the various parts of the toolbox are known as “mortise and tenon” joints. Shown here, the tenon, or protrusion of one part is passed through the mortise or opening made in an adjacent part. Often these joints are glued or pinned with dowels, as seen in this image.
Tool Tray Design
The design of the tool trays allows for different trades or craft persons to customize the toolbox for their specific needs.
Currently there are the original options available for the design. If you are interested in a toolbox for yourself, I am happy to customize to your specifications.
Here is a dimensioned pdf of a blank tool rack for you to design.
